Getting Started with PHP 7 in Zend Studio

To use the PHP 7 Express:

1. Right-click your PHP 5 project in the PHP Explorer, and select Run PHP 7 Express.
   The PHP 7 Express dialog is displayed.

2. If there are libraries in your project, you can select the 'Check library folders' check-box to run the compatibility check on the libraries as well.
3. Click OK.
   Zend Studio scans your code and displays any compatibility issues in the PHP 7 Express view.

4. Double-click an issue to take a closer look at your code.
   The relevant file is opened in the PHP Editor and the line highlighted.

Tip:

In some cases, you can apply a quick fix to your code. For more information on the supported quick fixes, see PHP 7 Express.

To create a new PHP 7 project:

1. In the menu-bar, go to File | New | Local PHP Project.
   The New Local PHP Project wizard is displayed.

   
   

2. Enter the following information:

   • Project Name: Enter the name of your project.

   • Location: Enter the location folder for your project.

   • PHP Server: By default, the default PHP web server is selected.
     To select a different server, deselect the check-box, and click the drop-down menu to select an existing server for deploying the new server project, or click Add Server to create a new server. For information on adding new servers, see Managing PHP Servers.

   • Content: Leave Basic selected.

   • Version: Ensure that version "PHP 7.0" is selected in the drop-down list..

3. Click Finish.
   Your PHP 7 project is created, and displayed in the PHP Explorer.

To add PHP 7 support to existing projects:

1. In the PHP Explorer, right-click your project, and select Properties.
2. Select PHP | Interpreter.
   The Interpreter dialog is displayed.

3. From the PHP Version drop-down menu, select PHP 7, and click Apply.
4. Zend Studio will notify you that a new build of the project is required. Click Yes to affirm the action.
   
5. To save the changes, click OK.
   Your project now supports PHP 7.

To run PHP 7 projects:

You can now run your PHP 7 projects as CLI in Zend Studio. To do this, right-click the file you want to run as CLI in the PHP Explorer, and select Run As | PHP CLI Application.
