Working with the Audit Trail

The following procedures explain how to work with Zend Server's Audit Trail feature. The trail can be viewed ,filtered, exported and configured.

The following procedure describes how to view an audit log.

Instructions on how to complete a procedure

To view an audit log:

  1. In the UI, go to Administration | Audit Trail.

  2. Locate an audit that interests you.

  3. Select the audit, or click on the Expand View arrow on the right side of the line, to view an expanded view of the audit.

Zend Server audit filtering reduces the number of audits in the Audit list on the Administration | Audit Trail page by displaying audits according to your personal preferences, thus facilitating a more precise monitoring process.

Instructions on how to complete a procedure

To filter the Audit Trail:

  1. In the UI, go to Administration | Audit Trail.
  2. To filter the Audit list, select a filter from the Stored filter menu. By default, All is selected.
  3. To filter audits by time range, click the Time range menu, and select a filter. To manually configure the time range, select Custom and click on the current date that appears next to the menu. You can enter the start and stop dates and time.
  4. To see the advanced filtering options and to create and save custom filters, click Advanced filter. You now have the following additional filtering options:
    • To filter audits by operations, click the Operations menu and select the operation you wish to filter the audits by.
    • To filter audits by outcome, click the Outcome menu and select the outcome you wish to filter the audits by.
  5. To create and save a custom filter, select the filtering options from the various menus and click Save as. You are prompted to name the new filter and save it. Your custom filter now appears in the Stored filters menu.
  6. To delete a custom filter, select the filter from the Stored filters menu and click Delete.

To clear all selected filters, click Reset.
The URL for this page uses URI fragment identifiers - pasting the URL in another tab/browser will load the page with current filters activated.

You can share Audit Logs with other members of your working environment exporting them to .zip files.

Instructions on how to complete a procedure

To export the audit trail:

  1. In the UI, go to Administration | Audit Trail.

  2. In the top-right corner of the page, click .
  3. Name the .zip file and select its location.
  4. Save the file.
    The audit log is exported and saved as a .zip file.

The following procedure describes how to configure the Zend Server Audit Trail.

Instructions on how to complete a procedure

To configure the audit trail:

  1. In the UI, go to Administration | Settings.

  2. In the Audit Trail Settings area, enter the following information:
    • Email - Enter an email address to be notified when an action is performed.
    • Callback URL - Enter a URL to be called when an audited action is performed.
  3. Click .
To receive emails from Zend Server, the mail service Zend Server uses (Custom, Gmail, Yahoo, Exchange) needs to be set up. For instructions on configuring mail settings, see Zend Server Settings.
