Working with URL Insight

URL Insight allows you to view detailed reports on requests for PHP pages located on your Web server. The procedures in this topic describe how to work with these reports, and how to configure the feature directives.

What is URL Insight?

This procedure describes how to use Requests Insight to view reports on requests.

 

 

Instructions on how to complete a procedure

To view requests reports:

  1. In the Zend Server UI, go to the Monitoring | URL Insight page.
  2. In the Filter Bar, filter the requests reports:
    • Application - Filter the reports by an application managed by Zend Server.
    • Period - Filter the reports according to a specific time period (Last 2 Hours, Last 24 Hours, Last 48 Hours, Last Week, Last Month, last 3 Months, last 6 Months, last Year, All).

    The Requests section displays requests according to the selected filters.

  3. In the Requests section, select a request from one of the three request reports:
    • Most Time Consuming - Requests that consumed the most time from the Web server (i.e. average server processing time X number of requests).
    • Slowest - Requests with the slowest response time from the Web server.
    • Most Popular - Most frequently called requests .
  4. The sections below and to the right display relevant information on the selected request. For a full breakdown of the various sections on this page, see URL Insight.
  5. Select Z-Ray instances to view a snapshot of the request as monitored by Z-Ray, which allows you to drill down into the request and view details on database queries, errors and warnings, events, and more. For more information on using Z-Ray, see Developing with Z-Ray.

Instructions on how to complete a procedure

To configure URL Insight:

  1. In the UI, go to the Administration | Components page.
  2. From the Components list, select the Zend URL Insight component.
    The expanded view displays all available configuration directives.

  1. Configure the directives as you see fit, and in the Action bar, click Save.

  2. In the toolbar, the restart icon lights up , indicating a restart is needed to apply changes. Click to restart server and apply changes.

The requests tracked and displayed by URL Insight display the routing structure for requests by the application (e.g., webinars :: show).

To ensure the best results, you can define the routing structure of your requests by plugging in a route plugin that will help Zend Server will aggregate requests to single URLs.
