Changing Cluster Configurations

General Cluster Configuration

This procedure describes how to change your entire cluster's configuration. In a cluster, any changes that you do are applied to all the servers in your cluster without exception.

To change a cluster configuration:

In the UI, edit your settings as necessary.
If the change requires a restart (e.g., Zend component directive change), in the Toolbar, the restart icon lights up , indicating a restart is needed to apply changes. Click to restart server and apply changes.

The changes will be applied to all the servers belonging to the cluster.

Selective Cluster Configuration

These procedures describe how to apply or revert external changes made to the settings of a single cluster server via the file system. If applied, the new settings are applied on all the servers in the cluster. If reverted, the new settings are reverted to the current cluster configuration.

Applying the Changes to the Cluster

After making an external change to the server settings via your file system, the Notification Center will notify you of an existing configuration mismatch. This procedure describes how to apply this change to all the servers in the cluster.

To apply changes to the entire cluster:

In the UI, go to Administration | Servers.
From the Servers list, select the server you made changes to, and under the Actions column (the Message column for the server will display the configuration change), click .
Click OK when prompted, to confirm the action.
The changes are applied. In the Servers list, the server status changes to pending restart .
In the toolbar, the restart icon lights up , indicating a restart is needed to apply changes. Click to restart the servers in the cluster and apply your changes.

Reverting the Changes to Cluster Configurations

After making an external change to the server settings via your file system, the Notification Center will notify you of an existing configuration mismatch. This procedure describes how to revert your changes to the cluster configurations.

To revert changes to cluster configurations:

In the UI, go to Administration | Servers.
From the Servers list, select the server you would like to revert changes to (the Message column for the server will display the configuration change), and under the Actions column, click .

Click OK when prompted, to confirm the action.
The changes are reverted. In the Servers list, the server status changes to pending restart .
In the toolbar, the restart icon lights up , indicating a restart is needed to apply changes. Click to restart the servers in the cluster and apply your changes.

Importing Configurations to a Cluster

If you are planning to make comprehensive changes, and you are not sure what the outcome will be in terms of performance and behavior, or you want to make changes to a cluster running a PHP application in production, the safest alternative is to manually apply the changes on a staging server, test it, and then export the changes to your cluster using the Zend Server Import/Export feature.

To import configurations to your cluster:

In the UI of your staging server, go to Administration | Import/Export.
In the Export area, click Export Configurations.
Select the file location for exporting the staging PHP and system configurations, and click Save.
Your configurations are exported and saved as a .zip file at the selected location.
In the UI of one of your cluster servers, go to Administration | Import/Export.
In the Import area, click Browse, and select the file containing the exported system configurations.
Click Upload.
In the toolbar, the restart icon lights up , indicating a restart is needed to apply changes. Click to restart the servers in the cluster and apply your changes.
The system configurations are uploaded to your cluster.
