Working with Components

The following procedures explain how to view and configure the Zend Components installed in your environment. For a list of the Zend Components and available configuration options, see Component Actions.

Zend components can be enabled or disabled to suit your working environment.

To change a component's status:

  1. In the UI, go to Administration | Components.

  2. Select a component from the list, and click to turn the component on or off.
    Component is enabled/ disabled.

  3. In the toolbar, the restart icon lights up , indicating a restart is needed to apply changes. Click to restart server and apply changes.
    For information on restarting in Zend Server, see Server Restart.

Notes:

More than one component can be loaded or unloaded before you click . All the changes made prior to restarting the PHP are applied when the server restarts.

Even if you navigate to other tabs, the changes are kept and are applied when the server restarts.

 

Zend Server components have directives that can be configured to change the component behavior.

To configure a component directive:

  1. In the UI, go to Administration | Components.

  2. Select a component from the list, or click the Expand View arrow on the right side of the component line.
    An expanded view of the component, together with all the associated directives, is displayed.

  1. Configure the directives as required using the available configuration controls:

  • Value field - Enter the required value.
  • Slide control - Slide to turn directive on or off.
  • Drop-down menu - Click and select required value.

Tip:

Hovering over a control after configuring a directive will display the previous value.

  1. Click .

  2. In the toolbar, the restart icon lights up , indicating a restart is needed to apply changes. Click to restart server and apply changes.

Note:

Directives of both loaded and unloaded components can be configured through the Components page.

Some Zend Server component daemons have directives that can be configured, changing the behavior of the relevant component.

Note:

Only applicable for Zend Deployment, Zend Java Bridge, Zend Job Queue, Zend Monitor and Zend Statistics.

To configure a component daemon directive:

  1. In the UI, go to Administration | Components.

  1. Select a component from the list, or click the Expand View arrow on the right side of the component line.
    An expanded view of the component, together with all the associated directives, is displayed.

  1. Click the Daemon Directives tab to view available directives.

Note:

The Daemon Directives tab is only displayed if there the selected component has configurable daemon directives.

  1. Configure the directives as required using the available configuration controls:
  • Value field - Enter the required value.
  • Slide control - Slide to turn directive on or off.
  • Drop-down menu - Click and select required value.

Server-based components can be restarted using this action.

Note:

To a component daemon:

  1. In the UI, go to Administration | Components.

  2. Hover over a component from the list, and click .
  3. When prompted, click OK.
    The daemon is restarted.

 

Clears all cached information for a component.

Note:

Only applicable for Zend Data Cache, OPcache, and Zend Page Cache.

To clear the cache for a component:

  1. In the UI, go to Administration | Components.

  2. Hover over a component from the list, and click .
  3. When prompted, click OK.
    The cache is cleared.
