Installing Zend Server for IBM i

There are three installation modes, Silent, Interactive and Windows-Based.

After Installation, Zend Server for IBM i users benefit from access to Zend Server's regular Updates and Security Fixes.

Note:

If you have a previously installed version of Zend Server for IBM i, see the instructions under 'Upgrading Zend Server for IBM i', below.

Prerequisites

Zend Server for IBM i requires that your system meets the following software specifications:

For a reliable updated list of the available PTFs, go to http://174.79.32.155/site/index.php/wiki, select Fast CGI IBM i from the General Interest menu on the right, and scroll down to the PTFs list.

Note:

To use the Zend Server Java Bridge component, make sure you have the IBMi Java license program installed (57XXJV1).

Installation Directories

The Zend Server is installed in the following folder on your server :

Zend Server Beta Users

If you have a Zend Server Beta installation and FastCGI PTFs installed in your server, please follow these steps before installing a new version of Zend   Server.

Removing the Zend Server Beta License and FastCGI PTFs

 

 

Instructions on how to complete a procedure

  1. Remove the Zend Server Beta license program:
    DLTLICPGM LICPGM(2ZSVRPI)

  2. Remove the FastCGI PTFs
    For V5R4:
    RMVPTF LICPGM(5722DG1) SELECT(SI36026) RMV(*PERM)  
    RMVPTF LICPGM(5722SS1) SELECT(SI36004) RMV(*PERM)
    For V6R1:
    RMVPTF LICPGM(5761DG1) SELECT(SI36027) RMV(*PERM)  
    RMVPTF LICPGM(5761SS1) SELECT(SI36005) RMV(*PERM)

 

Installing the Apache FastCgi PTF

 

 

Instructions on how to complete a procedure

 Download the FastCGI PTFs from the IBM site and apply them to your IBM i server.   
 For V5R4:  

           SI36004 for license program 5722SS1

           SI36026 for license program 5722DG1

 For V6R1:  

           SI36005 for license program 5761SS1

           SI36027 for license program 5761DG1

 

Installing Zend Server

 

 

Instructions on how to complete a procedure

  1. Log on to the IBM i system with a user profile of *SECOFR user class with all the special authorities.and create a SAVF in QGPL under the name ZSVRSAVF.
    This can be done by running the following command:
    CRTSAVF FILE(QGPL/ZSVRSAVF) TEXT(`Zend Server product save file')

  2. Transfer the package by binary FTP to the SAVF ZSVRSAVF in QGPL.
    This can be done by executing the following steps:

    1. Verify that FTP is running on your IBM i system by running the following command and looking for 'FTP' or '21' in the Local Port column:
      NETSTAT *CNN

    2. Open a command prompt and change the directory to the directory that contains the files you extracted from the ZIP file.

    3. Run the FTP command, specifying the name of your i5/OS system. e.g:
       ftp IBM i_system_name/TCP address

    4. If requested, enter a valid user profile and password.
      Enter the bin command to specify a binary transfer.

    5. Transfer the save file to the IBM i system by running the following command:
      put zsvrsavf.savf

  1. When the SAVF is loaded into the IBM i QGPL library, return to your 5250 session and run the following command:

        a. Silent installation:

           SBMJOB CMD(RSTLICPGM LICPGM(2ZSVRPI) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/ZSVRSAVF))

        b. Interactive installation:

           RSTLICPGM LICPGM(2ZSVRPI) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/ZSVRSAVF)
