To install a newer version of Zend Server for IBM i on top of an older version, start the installation process by running the installation file. The Zend Server for IBM i installation script will identify whether a previously installed version is present. If so, a prompt will appear asking if you want to override current settings or retain them.
There are several options for upgrading Zend Server for IBM i. These options change according to the version you may have already installed on your system.
The following instructions pertain to the process of installing a newer version of the same product, for example, upgrading from version 4.02 to 4.03.

There are several options for upgrading Zend Server for IBM i. These options change according to the version you may have already installed on your system.
Installing Zend Server for IBM i over an existing installation of Zend Server for IBM i automatically upgrades the previous version installed in your server.
When the Zend Server for IBM i installation is run, the RSTLICPGM command creates a copy of the etc directory as follows:
/usr/local/zendzvr/ is copied to /usr/local/zendzvr+timestamp directory/etc
/www/zendsvr is copied to /usr/local/+ timestamp directory
To transfer these settings to your new Zend Server for IBM i installation, copy files such as the Apache configuration file and PHP.INI from the saved Zend Server for IBM i directories to the new Zend Server for IBM i installation directories.
